AUSTIN, Texas — A Trump supporter was forced to remove her hijab during a traffic stop.
The incident happened after a white man accused the man of having a problem with Muslims and demanded to see her hijab.
She said she had no intention of removing her hijab and continued to talk with the man.
A white woman drove by and the man got out of his car and began to shout at the woman and her friend who were standing on the street.
At that point, the white woman called police, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Austin police said they are investigating the incident.
An investigation by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee found that Islamophobia is a significant barrier to women’s rights in the U.S. and that Muslims face discrimination in public spaces.
Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric has been controversial throughout his presidential campaign, particularly after he called for banning Muslims from entering the country.
