The most popular religions in America are now more diverse than ever, according to a new study, but some religious traditions remain deeply rooted.
The Pew Research Center, based in the US state of Washington, looked at religious beliefs and practices in more than 5,000 people and found that the United Kingdom was the most diverse country in the world, with a mix of over 5,500 different faiths.
The study also found that there are some big gaps in religious diversity in the states, with some areas having the highest rates of religious diversity, such as Texas, where one-quarter of Americans say they are Christian, compared to less than one-third of Americans in New Jersey.
This chart shows how the percentage of Americans identifying as non-religious has grown in each of the past 50 years.
